Applying Modesty Standards to Modern Fashion Trends

Hey y'all! I've decided, I love blogging. And this is only my second post. Meant to be? Or maybe I'm just talkative and I like having a new source to spill my words to! Wait, that's not what you want to hear right now! You're here (if anyone reads this) to learn how to apply modesty standards to modern clothing! Well, you've come to the right place.

So you may ask, what exactly does modesty look like! Well, I'll share a few examples. You might think modest clothes look like the two shown below.

While these are undeniably modest clothing, they look like they came straight out of conservative Nebraska in the mid 1800s (no offense to the mannequin and the lovely lady). This is not the kind of modesty that we are striving to promote. We don't want you to look like a pioneer set to scrub clothing at the creek 7 miles away. If you want to rock that look, you go for it. I, however, prefer the kind of modesty showcased in the next photos.

These clothes are sassy, classy, and stylish (kinda like our IG page!). These three outfits took modern fashion trends (peplum style dresses are so in right now) and just adjusted them to make them more appropriate! Sometimes all that's needed to make modern clothes modest is two extra inches of fabric at the hem and a size larger for clingy fabrics!

Modesty is about dressing to accentuate your truest, purest beauty (that would be your inner beauty). Everyone judges a book by its cover, at least a little, at first. Your clothing reveals almost everything about you before you open your mouth. What is your clothing going to say?

Sassy Classy Style: Fashion Giraffe!

Hello blogiverse (blog universe, get it?)! We are @sassy.classy.style on Instagram, and we are starting a blog! Well, trying to, in any case. I have no idea how to make our blog look pretty, but I'll try! That's off topic, though.

So I have mentioned a 'we.' That would be me (Katie), my friend Megan, and my friend Elizabeth! We are three (hopefully you could count that) teenage girls who are passionate about fashion, but also modesty!

What's modesty, you ask? Modesty is veiling what should remain hidden, ie, your body! "Why would you cover up your body?? This is 2015, not 1022!!" A remarkable observation, to be sure ;) We do not cover up our bodies because they're bad! Rather, we believe that our bodies are so good, so pure, that they should be shown only to the one who deserves to see it (our husbands). Since we're not married, we keep ourselves covered. We reveal our true beauty to others, while giving guys a rest from the immodesty that's prevalent.

"Cool, that's a nice concept. So you dress in garbage bags, right?" NOOOOOO!!! We dress in modern clothing, bought from regular stores, but pair them to make them more appropriate! We'll get into that at a later time :)

On this blog, we'll be sharing pictures of our modest outfits, but we'll also be sharing fashion tips, advice on how to dress for maximum flatterage (not a word, roll with it. In the Katie Dictionary, its  basically "flattering scale."), and whatever else we happen to post about! You'll be subjected to quirkiness (a nice way to say "weirdo"), sarcasm (we'll be nice about it), and maybe the occasional tidbit of humor (no promises) if you read our posts, sorry bout that (not really).

Soooooo I think that about wraps it up. I'm off to see if I can get this blog to look pretty! (Tips would be greatly appreciated.)
